… At daylight saw three right whales; lowered and chased without success… land in sight…

This day somewhat cloudy…  Saw no whales today… In the evening gamming with the Tuscarora…

Mon, Sep 16, 1844 (Lat 52.49…)

This day clear and pleasant.   Commences with light gales from SW.  Made sail at daylight, steering on the wind. At 9 am left Kamchatka in company with the Bayard and Tuscarora steering ESE to the island a whaling.
