… Under all sail.  Saw nothing but humpbacks.  Tuscarora in company.

… Had heavy winds from NW… Last part blowing a brisk gales and squally.

… First part stiff gales… Latter part briskbreezes.  Gamming with the Tuscarora.

First part of this day had very light airs from N;steering ENE on the wind… Middle part calm… Latter part had light rains.

Tue, Sep 24, 1844 (Lat 49.30 Lon 177 W)

First part of this day thick and rainy…latter part clear and pleasant.

Well, the eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that Tuesday Sep 24th was something of a red letter day for the Thames. Did you catch it? The latitude has changed from East to West.

Wed, Sep 25, 1844 (Lat 49.59 Lon 173.31 W)

This day pleasant. Commences with brisk breezes from WNW… At 10 am double reefed the topsails, the wind blowing strong and increasing.  Latter part blowing a strong gale.  The Tuscarora in company.  At night we both took in sail and hove too under close reefed main topsail and main spencer.  Ends blowing a severe gale with a heavy sea.

Hold tight folks… its gonna get rough…
